Kyauk-Pyat-That, Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin District, Mandalay Region, Myanmar

The locality at Kyauk-Pyat-That (Stone Roof Tier) is approximately 4 km from the Kyauk-phat pagoda, a conspicuous landmark situated at the junction of the Kyauk-Pyat-That and Mogok-Mandalay roads, about 22 km west of Mogok.

At Kyauk-Pyat-That, rubies and spinels occur in different types of marble. Numerous other gems are found in the alluvium, scattered throughout the hilly environs of Kyauk-Pyat-That in loos (loo-dwin) and in the fracture-filled deposits. The Kyauk-Pyat-That area is characterized by small scale skarns and contact zones, where a variety of rare gems and minerals is found.
