The mine was operated since the 1990s, it was closed in 2003 and re-opened in the following year. The mining area occupies and open area of about 65,000 square meters, the mining camp is very well organized and equipped.

, some of them of fine quality, are recovered from the alluvium, using the classic earth-stripping open-pit method.
The rubies are of verying qualities and mostly of small size. The largest gem-quality ruby was 60 carats.
