The joint venture mine sites are located on the south side of the Mandalay-Mogok road, along the banks of the Yebu creek, by the Mintada bridge.
At the mining site
rubies and blue
sapphires of low-medium quality are recovered from the alluvial deposits, using mechanized open-pit and
myaw-dwin mining methods. Some of these gems are of high quality, but their weigh seldom exceeds 2-3 carats.
Star ruby of medium quality,
spinel,
moonstone and
quartz are frequently found. In 2001 the mines were closed.
