Pan-taw (Flower Field). Small mining concerns work in the alluvium mining spinels of all grades, yellow sapphires and fewer rubies. Some of sapphires are good quality, of faceting and cabochon grades, usually weighing below 2 ct. Pink tourmaline, amazonite, topaz, large size quartz, color-change fluorite (bluish to purplish), rhodochrosite, jeremejevite and some rare minerals are also found in the nearby pegmatite dyke. Gem mining is carried out using open-pit, letkya-dwin, lebin, inbyae and myaw-dwin methods.
